| Not everyone who drinks too much alcohol develops liver damage, but there is evidence that due to a combination of factors including a genetic susceptibility predisposes some people to alcohol-related liver damage.
In general, the more you drink and the greater the frequency and duration of heavy drinking, the more likely you are to develop cirrhosis.
