Dear All Valued Supporters of the MLF

 

Approximately, 2.5 million Malaysians are thought to be infected with chronic hepatitis.  As hepatitis is largely asymptomatic, most of those infected with this disease are unaware that they have contracted the disease until they develop some complications of this dreadful disease.  Some 25% of these unsuspecting individuals are at risk of serious infections and eventual death from cirrhosis and liver cancer.

 

The Malaysian Liver Foundation (MLF) registered in April 1996, is the only non-profit organisation in Malaysia dedicated to increasing public awareness and improving the quality of treatment and research in liver diseases.  The Foundation has been able to fulfill its noble objectives with public support.

 

In this regard, the MLF will be organising a fund-raising Charity Dinner themed “Malam Satu Hati” on Saturday, 16 July 2011, at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa Petaling Jaya, in conjunction with the 9th International Liver Meeting ‘Liver Update 2011’.

 

We hope to raise sufficient funds through this event to enable the MLF to achieve its many aims and objectives through numerous activities, which include the following:

 

Objectives:

 

• To create nationwide awareness on the importance of caring for the liver as well as increasing the understanding of liver diseases in general
• To facilitate the training of doctors throughout the country to enable them to diagnose, treat and help in the prevention of hepatobiliary diseases
• To conduct research in the field of hepatobiliary disease with possible worldwide collaboration with established hepatobiliary centres
• To establish international linkages with similar organizations worldwide
• To help patients cope with diseases of the liver, gall bladder, bile ducts and pancreas

 

• To co-operate with government and non-government organizations (NGO) interested in the provision of services for patients suffering from liver diseases and to co-ordinate such efforts for the benefit of patients

 

Our tables are being priced at RM20,000, RM10,000, RM7,000 and RM5,000.
