The Malaysian Liver Foundation (MLF) or Yayasan Hepar Malaysia was registered in April 1996 as a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of the liver biliary, gallbladder and pancreatic diseases through education, training and research.
The MLF strives to create greater awareness amongst the public regarding liver diseases and also provide information on the prevention and treatment of viral hepatitis and liver-related complications like cirrhosis and liver cancer. The Organisation is also involved in the training of doctors in the latest diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to liver diseases as well as the conduct of research and developmental activities.
The Liver Registry is a project under the collaboration of the MLF and Ministry of Health Malaysia. The main objective of the registry is to collect comprehensive data on liver diseases in Malaysia. These data will assist us in formulating better treatment options and workable preventive strategies and control of hepatobiliary diseases, especially liver cancer. Liver Transplantation is currently being conducted at the Selayang Hospital.
The Molecular Research Laboratory (MRL) was launched in April 2000 to make available high end molecular diagnostic tests to health care professionals managing patients with chronic hepatitis, especially. The tests available will assist and guide them in deciding on treatment options and responses.
The MRL was accredited for ISO 17025 in October 2003 from the National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia (NATA) as well as ISO 15189 in 2005. The Laboratory was reaccredited in 2009 and the next reassessment of ISO 15189 is scheduled in 2011.
The MLF hopes to achieve all her objectives by working closely with people suffering from liver diseases including their families and friends, doctors, allied health professionals, non-governmental organizations, the private sector and the Government.
The Malaysian Liver Foundation (MLF) is proud to present its Charity Gala Dinner with the theme “MALAM SATU HATI”, to be held in conjunction with the 9th Liver Update, a series of international biennial scientific meetings on hepatobiliary diseases. This prime event is MLF’s fundraising effort to support its various programmes, including education, training, research and hepatitis awareness campaigns.
Guests can look forward to a relaxing and enjoyable evening of excellent entertainment and food.
The MLF would like to express its sincere appreciation and thanks to all valued supporters for their generous contributions and donations.
