Her long and distinguished career has contributed greatly to the position of the underprivileged and those with disabilities in Malaysia. She was a member of the State of Selangor Legislative Council; a member of the Public Service Commission for 10 years; a member of the National Council of Religious Affairs Malaysia for the last 23 years; and a member of the National Unity Board in the Prime Minister's Department for over 20 years.
Y.Bhg Tan Sri is also very active in numerous non-government organisations. Her main love is charity work, earning her a reputation as a caring and compassionate member of the public. She is presently the Patron of the Malaysian Autistic Children Association, the Executive Chairperson of the Higher Education Learning Programme (HELP INST), a member of the Handicapped and Spastic Children Association and Advisor to the Association for the Deaf and Dumb.
Y.Bhg Tan Sri has represented Malaysia at various international conferences. For her exemplary contribution to education, charity and welfare work over the last 40 years, she was conferred Doctor of the University, Honoris Causa by the University of Southern Queensland, Australia in 1997.
She is now a member of the Board of the Trustees of the Malaysian Liver Foundation and we are confident that, with her advice, guidance and vast experience in charity work, the MLF will make an impact in increasing the awareness of liver disease amongst our fellow Malaysians.
